Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart...Ecclesiastes 9:10

When I was working full time, I took my job very seriously. 99.9% of the time I did not enjoy what I was doing but I did it. I followed instruction well and I always got my work done. I showed respect to my bosses and would help my co-workers if the need ever arose.

Now that I'm home, I can't say that I have been taking this job nearly as serious. I am welcome to stay in my pajama's all day if I want. I can plug in some movies if I don't feel like doing anything and the kids have tons of toys so they are well distracted. So this isn't really a job right?

WRONG.....oh so wrong.

This way might have worked for a little while but after a week or so God got ahold of me and said "Ok Mandy it's time to do something different, lets get serious about this." Ouch. While I don't have a physical boss telling me what to do, while I don't have a set schedule telling me where to go and while I don't have any physical person watching over my shoulder, who is all around? Who is the One person you can't run from? God. God is my boss. Yes He's a loving Father He's also a Just God who knows what He wants. He wants my children to know about Him, He wants them to be able to function in society, He wants me to be the best mom I can possibly be. He has called me to a different kind of job, am I going to be responsible and take the reigns or am I going to keep trapsing through the forest with blinders on? It's time to get serious about our jobs. Even if we are working for a physical person, it's time to get serious because while we may be working for a person we are also and above all working for God.

For mom's who are new to staying at home like I am, I found, through God, a most amazing website called www.abcjesuslovesme.com. This is preschool curriculum as well as just summer fun activities. We're working on the letter A right now as well as Creation and Noah's Ark.

If you are working for man I pray that God would let you know in your heart that you're also working for Him and He expects 110% all of the time. If you stumble, that's ok pick yourself up and keep going. Get serious about working for the Lord.

Servants, do what you're told by your earthly masters. And don't just do the minimum that will get you by. Do your best. Work from the heart for your real Master, for God, confident that you'll get paid in full when you come into your inheritance. Keep in mind always that the ultimate Master you're serving is Christ. The sullen servant who does shoddy work will be held responsible. Being a follower of Jesus doesn't cover up bad work. Colossians 3:23 msg
