Come, let us worship and bow down.
Let us kneel before the Lord our maker,
for he is our God. Psalm 95:6
After a night of strong storms, I awoke to find that the power was out. I lay there in bed thinking about what I could do. Cup of coffee, not without power. Start a load of laundry, not quite. No use taking a shower when the blow dryer and straightener won't work. I finally decided I would just sit and read my Bible. But even that wasn't possible as it was still dark from the storms and I had no lamp to read by.
As I thought about all the things that wouldn't be accomplished, I realized how important electricity is and how much it is taken for granted. Except when the bill is due, I don't really think about electricity, I just know it's there. When I push the button on my Keurig, I am confident that my coffee will start brewing. When I flip the switch, I am confident that the lights will come on. And when I open the refrigerator, I am confident the food will be cold.
We have confidence in electricity. Do we have the same confidence in God?
This I declare about the LORD: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him. Psalm 91:2
We put our confidence in many different things. Some trust in their abilities and talents. Some put their confidence in the government to provide and others trust their own finances. People put their hope in their friends, parents or spouse to keep them safe. But joy and peace comes to those who put their hope in God.
Today, let's put our full confidence in God and worship the One who alone is worthy of our praise.
Amen! We put our hope in so many things other than the One true hope.
ReplyDeleteHi Lisa. this reminds me of the scripture in Ps 20 v 7-8: Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; but we will remember the name of the Lord our God. They have bowed down and fallen; But we have risen and stand upright.
ReplyDeleteGreat reminder about who to put our trust in.
God bless
Tracy
