Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God -- this is your spiritual act of worship.
Romans 12:1
In view of God's mercy - The Bible says that ALL have sinned and deserve death. (Rom. 3:23; 6:23). But God sent His only Son to pay that price. Because of His mercy, we have forgiveness of our sins and we can enter in to a right relationship with Him.
Offer your bodies as a living sacrifice - In the Old Testament, according to God's law, a priest would kill an animal, cut it in pieces, and place it on the altar as a sacrifice. Sacrifice was very important. But the Word also says, "To obey is better than sacrifice." (1 Sam. 15:22) To offer our bodies as a sacrifice, we must lay aside our own desires and follow God.
Holy and pleasing to God - Our lives are to be set apart. We shouldn't conform to the world, because we don't belong to the world. We belong to God; we are to be holy, for He is holy. (1 Pet. 1:16) This way of living is pleasing to God.
This is your spiritual act of worship - As we grow closer to God, we develop the mind of Christ. We begin to look like Jesus, think like Jesus, and act like Jesus. We willingly lay down our will for His. This is our act of worship that is pleasing to God.
Beautiful, simple, truth! Thank you for this.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post! We were made to worship. It's in our DNA to worship and praise our Creator! We can start fresh daily because He is the God of new mercies!
ReplyDeleteNo matter if we sing or obey, whatever we do it's an act of worship and I LOVE to worship God. Love this thank you!
ReplyDeleteAmen! His will, not mine, be done..
ReplyDeleteFirst off, I just want to say how impressed I am with what you ladies are doing with this new ministry. I've followed each of your blogs for quite some time, and you've all inspired me in many ways so thank you for that. This is a wonderful endeavor, and I pray it reaches the hearts and minds of many other women.
ReplyDeleteAs for today's posting, Lisa this was wonderful. Simple, eloquent, and oh so true. May we all find new ways each day to lay aside the wishes of man for the Will of God.
Have a Blessed Day!
Lisa, This ministry is such a blessing!
ReplyDeleteWhat you said at the end of your post about our spiritual act of worship - laying down our will for His really hit home. God owes me nothing-not one thing but in His love for me He has proven himself over and over and over again...just one day out of the blue when I was able to get myself to push past my own strong self-centered self - POW! He has honored those efforts like CRAZY! There's NO turning back. I have felt His presence before in my nearly 59 years, but not like this point in life. HE is SO WORTH my ALL!
